Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) introduced a resolution on May 3, 2007 that urges Turkey to respect the rights and religious freedoms of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The resolution calls on Turkey to grant the Patriarchate appropriate international recognition, the right to train clergy of all nationalities, and respect the human rights and property rights of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
