Re: CONTACT YOUR CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES TO URGE THEM TO COMPLETE AHI’S CANDIDATE QUESTIONNAIRE

BACKGROUND

The 2012 elections will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2012. On November 6, there is a presidential election and all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 33 seats in the Senate are up for election.

This weekend, congressional members will adjourn for August recess to hit the campaign trail for the next month in their congressional districts and throughout their states.

The American Hellenic Institute has issued its 2012 Congressional Candidate Questionnaire Form to candidates seeking election to the U.S. Congress (both Senate and House of Representatives).

The questionnaire explores issues that are of great importance to the Greek American community that involve U.S. relations with Greece and Cyprus, as well as southeastern Europe and eastern Mediterranean region.

AHI will facilitate the distribution of candidates’ responses and positions to the Greek American community.

AHI has asked candidates to return the questionnaire by Monday, September 24, 2012.

STATUS

The questionnaire has been mailed to the campaign offices of the candidates from the two major parties (and select independent candidates) who are running for president and congress.

ACTION

Contact the campaign offices of your congressional candidates and urge them to complete AHI’s Congressional Questionnaire Form.

  1. Congressional campaign offices will be receiving AHI’s questionnaire this week.
  2. Call or visit their offices and ask if they have received the questionnaire.
  3. Advise them that as a voter, you would appreciate the candidate completing the form so that his/her positions on Greek American issues are presented to the community.
  4. Remind them of the deadline of September 24, 2012.

  • If a candidate’s office cannot locate or place AHI’s questionnaire, then offer to get a copy of the questionnaire in their hands either via fax, email, or hand delivery.

HOW CAN I FIND THEIR CONTACT INFORMATION?

  • If you do not know the contact information for the campaign offices of your congressional candidates, we recommend conducting an Internet search for their campaign web sites.
  • Their campaign web sites will have a “Contact” or “Contact Us” button where you can access the contact information (address, phone, email).

  • If you are still having trouble finding the contact information for your congressional candidates, please contact AHI, (202) 785-8430.
