Fundraising Reception In Support Of Hellenic House Held At Home Of AHIPAC Chairman Nicholas and Mrs. Kathleen Chimicles

On November 4, 2000 American Hellenic Institute Public Affairs Committee (AHIPAC) Chairman Nicholas and Mrs. Kathleen Chimicles graciously opened their home in Devon, Pennsylvania for a reception in support of Hellenic House. The American Hellenic Institute would like to extend its sincere thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Chimicles for acting as Chairpersons of the event.

The Special Guest was Mr. John C Metaxas, Correspondent and Anchor, CNN Financial News. In his remarks Mr. Metaxas commented on current trends in the financial markets. He also praised the American Hellenic Institute's contribution to public policy issues of interest to Greek Americans. He highlighted AHI's policy analyses as hard-hitting and accurate.

Dr. and Mrs. Constantine Papadakis acted as Honorary Chairpersons. The Host Committee included: Mrs. Lillian H Borden, Mr. and Mrs. Peter E Chimicles, Miss Georgia Chletcos, Dr. and Mrs. Dimitri Contostavlos, Mr. Ted Golfinopoulos, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kotrotsios, Mr. Constantine Larigakis, Dr. Theodore Lyras, Mr. Sam Pelonis, Dr. Fotini Psalidas-Perlmutter, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene T Rossides, Mr. Theodore G Spyropoulos, Mr. and Mrs. Manny Stamatakis, Mr. and Mrs. Constantine Stephanou, Dr. and Mrs. George Tsetsekos, Dr. and Mrs. Sotirios J Vahaviolos, and Mrs. and Mrs. Demosthenes Vasiliou.

The event was an exceptionally gracious occasion. Approximately 100 guests attended. Cocktails and a buffet supper were provided as well as live music. Guests also had the opportunity to admire the Chimicles' magnificent home.

A total of $21,000 was raised in support of Hellenic House. AHI would like to thank all those who attended and to reiterate its gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Chimicles.

Mr. Chimicles is senior partner of Chimicles & Tikellis LLP with offices in Haverford, PA and Wilmington, DE. Mr. Chimicles is also Chairman of the firm's Executive Committee. Mrs. Chimicles directs the firm's financial operations.
