AHEPA and AHI to Sponsor Joint Legislative Conferences in Philadelphia and New York

The American Hellenic Institute and the Order of AHEPA are pleased to announce that they will be sponsoring two legislative conferences to be held in Philadelphia and New York.

The Philadelphia conference will take place on January 29, 2000 from 9:00 am ­ 2:30 pm at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott, 1201 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA. The luncheon speaker will be Representative Rob Andrews (D-NJ).

The New York conference will take place on February 12, 2000 from 9:00 am- 2:30 pm at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Park Avenue at Grand Central. Congressman Ben Gilman (R-NY), Chairman of the House International Relations Committee, has been invited to be the luncheon speaker.

Each conference will cover the following topics:

  1. Cyprus and American Foreign Policy
  2. The E.U. Summit: Implications for U.S. Policy toward Greece, Cyprus and Turkey and the challenges for the Greek American Community.
  3. Current Legislative Initiatives regarding Cyprus and the Aegean issues for the 2nd Session of the 106th Congress
  4. Workshop on Lobbying

In a joint statement AHEPA Supreme President George Dariotis and AHI general counsel Eugene T Rossides stated:

"The year 2000, with presidential and congressional elections, presents important challenges to the Greek American community. Through these conferences AHI and AHEPA are working closely together to provide up-to-date information on key issues of interest to the community. We urge our members and other interested parties to attend."
