AHI Prepares for Annual Trip to Greece, Cyprus and Israel

WASHINGTON, DC — The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) is preparing for its annual trip to Greece, Cyprus and Israel, May 21-31, 2012.

“We look forward to a productive series of meetings in each of these countries as we work to advance the issues that impact the eastern Mediterranean region and are of significant interest to the Greek American community,” said AHI President Nick Larigakis, who will lead the AHI delegation.

AHI will visit Israel first to conduct meetings with Israeli and Greek government officials, May 21-23, including members of the Knesset (Israeli Parliament). AHI will tour an Israeli defense installation and Yad Vashem Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority. AHI will also have an audience with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem.

The second leg of the trip will be to the Republic of Cyprus, May 24-26, where AHI will continue its dialogue with several Cypriot officials at the ministry, parliament, and local levels of government and leaders of commerce.

AHI’s trip will conclude with a visit to Greece, May 27-31. In addition to meetings with President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias and Greek government officials, U.S. Ambassador to Greece Daniel Smith will host AHI. A highlight of the trip to Greece will be AHI’s Eight Annual Athens Awards Reception & Dinner on May 30.

The American Hellenic Institute is a non-profit Greek American public policy center that works to strengthen relations between the United States and Greece and Cyprus, and within the Greek American community.
