AHI Welcomes Hellenic Navy Chief to Hellenic House

WASHINGTON, DC—Greece’s Chief of the Hellenic Navy, Vice Admiral Kosmas Christidis, and delegation of Hellenic Navy officers, visited American Hellenic Institute’s (AHI’s) Hellenic House on January 25, 2013.

“We were honored to welcome Vice Admiral Christidis and his colleagues to Hellenic House,” AHI President Nick Larigakis said. “We held a substantive discussion about various aspects of Greece’s naval cooperation with its allies, its geostrategic importance and its significance as a regional power. The vice admiral and his delegation provided a clear picture of Greece’s contributions as a NATO ally from the standpoint of the Hellenic Navy, which includes the Hellenic Navy’s support to bases at Souda Bay, Crete.”

Captain George Mataragas, naval attaché, Embassy of Greece; Lieutenant Commander Nikolaos Petrakos, Commodore Dimitrios Vourazelis, and Captain Fragkiskos Leloudas accompanied Vice Admiral Christidis to the meeting.

Joining AHI President Larigakis at the meeting were AHI Board Secretary Nick Karambelas and Legislative Assistant Georgea Polizos.
