On November 20, 1998 leaders of four Greek American and one Armenian American organizations sent a letter (copy attached) to the American Jewish Committee, the American Jewish Congress, and the Anti-Defamation League in relation to an advertisement placed in the New York Times on November 8 by those organizations in support of Turkey.

The letter expresses concern that this public statement of support for Turkey overlooks Turkey's past and present record of genocide and human rights abuses.

Mourad Topalian, Chairman, Armenian National Committee of American (ANCA)
Dora Hancock, President, Hellenic American Women's Council (HAWC)
Ted Spyropoulos, President, Hellenic American National Council (HANC)
