American Hellenic Institute Presents An Evening Honoring Mikis Theodorakis

The American Hellenic Institute takes great pride in announcing that on Saturday, June 10, 2000 it will present an "Evening Honoring Mikis Theodorakis" at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Park Avenue at Grand Central, New York. The event will honor the life, music and achievements of Mikis Theodorakis.

The evening will take the form of a reception at 7:00 pm and dinner at 8:00 pm. At the dinner, AHI will present Mr. Theodorakis with the AHI Hellenic Heritage Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mr. Peter Tiboris, General Director and Music Director, MidAmerica Productions Inc., will deliver a special address on the subject of "Classical Music among World Hellenes: Myth or Reality. What is the Future?"

Musical entertainment will be provided by Ms. Stephanie Chigas, Mezzo-Soprano, and Ms. Kathy Olsen who will perform selections from the music of Mikis Theodorakis.

Ms. Thalia Assuras, Co-Anchor, CBS' The Saturday Early Show, will act as Master of Ceremonies. The Honorary Dinner Chairman is Mr. John Rigas and the Dinner Chairman is Mr. Peter J. Pappas.

Proceeds will benefit the AHI Foundation Hellenic House.
