AHI Prepares To Host 26th Anniversary Hellenic Heritage Achievement And National Public Service Awards Dinner

The 26th Anniversary American Hellenic Institute (AHI) Hellenic Heritage and National Public Service Awards Dinner will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2001 at the Four Season Hotel, Washington DC.

Our Dinner is a special moment once a year when we stand up and recognize individual Greek Americans and philhellenes and celebrate the great contributions they have made to our country.

The 2001 honorees will be:

  • Mr. Nicholas J. Bouras, President, Bouras Industries, Businessman and Philanthropist
  • Mr. R. Nicholas Burns, U.S. Ambassador to Greece
  • Ms. Angene George Rafferty, Businesswoman and Community Activist
  • The Yeonas Brothers, Stephen and posthumously Constantine, Jimmy and Paul, Builders and Philanthropists

Mr. John C. Metaxas, Anchor and correspondent of CNN Financial News will act as Master of Ceremonies.

The evening will begin with a silent auction and reception at 6:30 pm. Dinner will follow at 7:30 pm. Music will be provided by Zephyros.

From 9:00am-10:30am Ambassador Burns will be the speaker at a breakfast at the Four Seasons at which he will give a presentation on U.S. relations with Greece. From 11:30am Ð 1:00pm all Dinner guests are invited to attend an open House/Reception at Hellenic House, 1220 16th Street NW, Washington DC 20036.

AHIÕs Board of Directors looks forward to greeting friends old and new to this gala occasion. Previous attendees have included prominent figures from politics such as Senators Paul Sarbanes and Olympia Snowe, from business such as Mr. John Rigas and Mr. Ted Leonsis, from the arts such as Yanni and Nana Mouskouriand from overseas including the Greek and Cypriot Ambassadors.
