AHI Leadership Honored: Executive Director Nick Larigakis Inducted as Archon Founder Gene Rossides Serves as Grand Marshal of Chicago Hellenic Heritage Parade

On March 9, 2003, American Hellenic Institute (AHI) Executive Director Nick Larigakis was given the honor of being named an Archon of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle during a ceremony held at Holy Trinity Archdiocesan Cathedral in New York, NY. The designation of Archon is granted to candidates by His All Holiness, the Ecumenical Patriarch, for their outstanding service to the Church, and are prominent, distinguished, and well-respected leaders of the Greek Orthodox Community.

The activities of the Order of St. Andrew are focused on the well-being of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Holy Archdiocese of America, and can be classified under three major categories: education, spirituality and philanthropy.

Mr. Larigakis' appointment follows at the heels of AHI founder Gene Rossides' appointment as Archon of the Greek Orthodox Church in 2002. Mr. Rossides was also recently honored as the 2003 Honorary Grand Marshal for the Chicago Hellenic Heritage and Greek Independence Day Parade on March 30, 2003, which was sponsored by ENOSIS, a federation of Hellenic American organizations in the Chicago area. More than 135 Chicagoland churches, Greek American organizations and other groups paraded through the heart of Greek Town on Halsted Street. In its 38th year, the Hellenic Heritage Parade is a Chicago tradition and represents the various components of the Greek American community in that city.
