AHI Hosts Fourth Annual Golf Tournament

WASHINGTON, DC—On October 19, 2007, the American Hellenic Institute hosted its Fourth Annual AHI Benefit Golf Tournament at the Greendale Golf Course in Alexandria, Virginia. The event was a big success, and AHI is grateful to all of the sponsors and golfers who participated.

The winning team in the scramble format competition consisted of George Sifakis, Dean Scontras, Harry Demetatis and Ambassador Andreas Kakouris. Finishing in second place was the team of Peter Marketos, Thomas Pellicane, Jonathan Day and Stephen Colovos. Third place went to the team of John Courembis, Alex Courembis, Louis Courembis and Walter Chuda. The longest drive went to Stephen Colovos and the closest to the pin went to Ambassador Andreas Kakouris. All of the members of these winning teams were awarded trophies for their outstanding efforts.

Lending her support by coming out and participating again in this year’s golf tournament, as the “celebrity golfer,” was Christine Brennan, USA Today Sports Columnist. This is Christine Brennan’s second appearance at the AHI golf tournament.

Christine Brennan, a USA Today columnist, has twice been named one of the nation’s top ten sports columnists by the Associated Press Sports Editors. She is also a commentator for ABC News, ESPN, and NPR. Her national bestseller Inside Edge: A revealing Journey into the Secret World of Figure Skating was named one of the top 100 sports books of all time by Sports Illustrated.
