AHEPA ENDORSES 2008 GREEK AMERICAN POLICY STATEMENTS

AHI Extends Congratulations to Ike Gulas on His Re-Election as Supreme President

Washington D.C.—AHI is pleased to announce that the Supreme President Ike Gulas of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) has endorsed the AHI 2008 Greek American Policy Statements.

“The AHI has worked very closely with AHEPA over the years to promote issues of mutual interest. We thank Supreme President Ike Gulas for his initiative. As the largest and oldest Greek American grassroots organization, AHEPA’s endorsement of the Policy Statements is critical in our efforts to advance these positions throughout the country with U.S. policy makers and members of Congress. We are proud once again to be cooperating with AHEPA in this endeavor,” said AHI President Gene Rossides, a life long member of AHEPA.

“On behalf of all of us at AHI we congratulate Ike Gulas on his re-election as Supreme President. We wish him much success in the coming year as he continues to lead AHEPA though his invigorating leadership and we look forward to working with him,” said AHI Executive Director Nick Larigakis.

The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) is the largest and oldest American-based, Greek heritage grassroots membership organization.Its scope is international with chapters in the United States, Canada, Greece, and Cyprus, and "sister" chapters in Australia and New Zealand under theauspices of AHEPA Australasia.

AHEPA was founded on July 26, 1922 in response to the evils of bigotry and racism that emerged inearly 20th century American society. It also helped Greek immigrants assimilate into society.

Today, AHEPA brings the ideals of ancient Greece, which includes philanthropy, education, civic responsibility, and family and individual excellence to the community.

Although a majority of the membership is composed of Americans of Greek descent, application for membership is open to anyone who believes in the mission of the organization.
