Weekend’s Events Include Salute to Cyprus in Cooperation with Smithsonian


WASHINGTON, DC
— The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) will host its 36th Anniversary Hellenic Heritage Achievement and Public Service Awards Dinner on March 12, 2011, 7 p.m., The Capital Hilton, Washington, D.C.

At the black tie affair AHI will honor:

  1. The American College of Greece,
  2. U.S. Rep. Shelley Berkley, Nevada’s First Congressional District,
  3. Michael Constantine, Actor, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,”
  4. Dr. Takey Crist, Leader in Women’s Healthcare and Community Activist, and
  5. Larry Michael, The “Voice of the Washington Redskins.”


Jane Monzures, host, WGN’s “Living Healthy Chicago” will be the evening’s emcee.

“We are excited about the program we have assembled for our annual awards dinner,” said AHI President/COO Nick Larigakis.  “All of our honorees have excelled in their respective professions or as an institution.  We look forward to celebrating their achievements with the community.”

AHI Teams with Smithsonian to Commemorate Cyprus

As part of the weekend’s festivities, AHI will host a dinner, in cooperation with the National Museum of Natural History, commemorating the Republic of Cyprus, March 11, 2011, 7:30 p.m.  As part of the evening’s program, the exhibition “Cyprus: Crossroads of Civilization” will be showcased starting at 6:30 p.m.  The event will be held at the National Museum of Natural History.
