AHI President’s Op-ed: Has President Obama Met Expectations?

WASHINGTON, DC — The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) released an op-ed written by AHI President Nick Larigakis that explored if President Barack Obama has met the expectations of the Greek American community on issues affecting it with one year left until the November 2012 election.

AHI President Larigakis wrote “One Year to the Presidential Election: Has President Obama Met Expectations?” on November 8, 2011. Larigakis reviews the current state of Greek American issues, then-Presidential Candidate Obama’s campaign statements on the issues, and he highlights areas of progress and opportunities unfulfilled by the president thus far during his first term in office. He concludes that it is important for the Greek American community to send a strong message to all presidential candidates in what will be a challenging political environment come 2012. Moreover, President Obama must be held accountable to his campaign statements from 2008.

The op-ed received placement in the following publications: The National Herald, The Hellenic Voice, The Hellenic News of America, and Greek News.
