Cyprus’ Foreign Minister Visits AHI

WASHINGTON, DC — Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cyprus Dr. Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis visited American Hellenic Institute’s (AHI’s) Hellenic House on December 19, 2011. Ambassador Pavlos Anastasiades, ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the United States, and Mr. Kypros Giorgallis, director, Office of the Foreign Minister, accompanied the foreign minister.

“We were honored to have Foreign Minister Kozakou-Marcoullis visit with us,” said AHI President Nick Larigakis. “We thank her for taking time out of her busy Washington schedule to meet with us. We welcomed her perspective on the current situation on the island and in the region.”

Foreign Minister Kozakou-Marcoullis discussed issues of mutual importance and briefed AHI about the current status of the Cyprus issue and on energy development in the eastern Mediterranean.

In addition to AHI President Larigakis, AHI Founder Gene Rossides, Board of Directors Secretary Nicholas G. Karambelas, AHI Board Member Kostas Alexakis, and AHI Director of Media Relations, Demetra Atsaloglou attended the meeting.

During her visit to Washington, the foreign minister, who is a former ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the United States, met with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and gave a presentation at the Woodrow Wilson Center.
