AHI President Quoted in The Washington Post on Importance of Lobbying in Washington

WASHINGTON, DC — The Washington Post article “Washington can be a frontline for international combatants” by Emily Wax (January 11, 2012) featured a quote from American Hellenic Institute (AHI) President Nick Larigakis.

In the article, Larigakis affirms proximity to the U.S. government as an explanation to the importance of Washington to the lobbying efforts of ethnic and international advocacy groups.

“Our arsenal is not weapons,” said Nick Larigakis, president of the American Hellenic Institute, which promotes U.S. relations with Greece and Cyprus and is often at odds with Turkey’s goals. “It’s having a voice in Washington where we can use the rule of law to provide credibility to our arguments.”

The American Hellenic Institute is an independent non-profit Greek American public policy center that works to strengthen relations between the United States and Greece and Cyprus, and within the Greek American community.
