Greek Parliamentary Delegation Visits AHI

WASHINGTON, DC — A Greek Parliamentary delegation visited American Hellenic Institute’s (AHI’s) Hellenic House on November 2, 2012. MPs Ioannis Plakiotakis (New Democracy), a former deputy minister of Defense; Andreas Psycharis (New Democracy), a former member of the ministry of Foreign Affairs and the first Consul General of Greece to Tampa, Fla.; Georgios Varemenos (SYRIZA) and Panagiotis Rigas (PASOK) comprised the delegation, which met with AHI President Nick Larigakis.

“We were honored to welcome the delegation to Hellenic House,” President Larigakis said. “We appreciated the substantive discussion we had about the upcoming election in the United States. We also held a discussion about issues of importance to the community about Greece.”

The parliamentary delegation visited Washington as part of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly election monitoring mission. The delegation was accompanied by Mrs. Chara Papazoudi, who is with the Department of International Relations of the Greek Parliament.

The American Hellenic Institute is an independent non-profit Greek American public policy center that works to strengthen relations between the United States and Greece and Cyprus, and within the Greek American community.
