The Guardian Article Examines Greece’s Debt Forgiveness Toward Postwar Germany

WASHINGTON, DC—To share in the discourse about Greece’s economic condition, the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) shares with its audience the article “Greece and Spain helped postwar Germany recover. Spot the difference,” by Nick Dearden, which appeared in The Guardian, February 27, 2013.

“Greece’s economic condition is central topic when discussing policy issues pertaining to Greece,” said AHI President Nick Larigakis. “We felt it important to share the article because it takes a compelling approach to debt cancellation, especially as it once pertained to Germany following World War II by countries such as Greece, who were victims of German aggression and hostilities, but who also understood what was required for the greater good of Western Europe.”

The American Hellenic Institute is an independent non-profit Greek American public policy center that works to strengthen relations between the United States and Greece and Cyprus, and within the Greek American community.
