Greek Ambassador to Appear on Philadelphia Radio as Part of Greek Heritage Night at Phillies Baseball Game

WASHINGTON, DC — The American Hellenic Institute (AHI), in cooperation with Major League Baseball’s Philadelphia Phillies, has secured radio interviews for Ambassador of Greece to the U.S. Christos Panagopoulos on two Philadelphia morning radio programs. The media blitz comes as part of the AHI-sponsored Greek Heritage Night with the Philadelphia Phillies taking place May 28, 2014.

The ambassador will be interviewed May 28 at 8 a.m. on 1210-AM WPHT with Host Chris Stigall; and 9 a.m. on SportsRadio 94-FM WIP with Host Angelo Cataldi.  Festivities continue that evening at Citizens Bank Park as the Phillies play the Colorado Rockies.  Ambassador Panagopoulos will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and the popular Phillies mascot, The Phillie Phanatic, will sport an Evzonecostume and will lead a Greek dance troupe, Pegasus Dancers, from St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Upper Darby, Pa.

“We thank the Phillies’ staff, including Director of Publicity John Brazer, for their assistance with securing the interviews for the ambassador,” AHI President Nick Larigakis said.  “The community has demonstrated strong support for this event, which is clearly evident by the high volume of tickets already sold.  A few tickets remain.  It’s a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate pride in our heritage at a widely-attended event.  It promises to be an exciting evening in celebration of Greek heritage.”

The American Hellenic Institute is a non-profit Greek American think tank and public policy center that works to strengthen relations between the United States and Greece and Cyprus, and within the Greek American community.
