AHI Meets with Greece’s Top Military Official

WASHINGTON, DC —American Hellenic Institute (AHI) President Nick Larigakis met with Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis, Chief of Hellenic National Defense General Staff, October 18, 2016, during the admiral’s visit to Washington, D.C., October 15 to 18. The meeting took place at the office of the Greek Defense Attaché.

HNDGS Chief, Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis, HN, visited Washington at the invitation of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Joseph F. Dunford, U.S. Marine Corps, to attend the Chiefs of Defense Counter Violent Extremist Organizations Conference. The purpose of the conference is to generate a better collective understanding of the transregional nature of current threats and the development of transregional solutions to counter these threats.

“My thanks to Admiral Apostolakis for taking time out of his busy itinerary in Washington to meet,” Larigakis said. “His presence at a very important conference aimed to counter extremist organizations, which was at the invitation of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, indicates the vital and valued role Greece plays as a staunch NATO ally in global security.”
