AHI President Attends Greece’s State Dinner for President Obama

WASHINGTON, DC — American Hellenic Institute (AHI) President Nick Larigakis attended events held in concurrence with President Barack Obama’s visit to Athens, Greece, November 14 to 16, 2016, including the State Dinner hosted by President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos, November 15.

“On behalf of AHI, I thank President Pavlopoulos for the invitation to attend Greece’s State Dinner in honor of President Obama,” Larigakis said. “It was an honor to be present at the State Dinner, where the strong bonds and shared values between the United States and Greece were reaffirmed.  It was a memorable experience.”

President Larigakis also attended President Obama’s speech to the people of Greece at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, November 16, and a reception U.S. Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt and The Hellenic Initiative hosted in honor of Global Entrepreneurship Week titled, “Entrepreneurs: United for Success,” which was held at the ambassador’s residence, November 14.

In addition, AHI-Athens President George C. Economou hosted a luncheon for President Larigakis, November 15, where representatives from the business and academic communities attended.

“I appreciated the efforts of AHI-Athens President Economou to organize a luncheon at which we had the opportunity to share AHI’s mission and initiatives with key individuals from the community,” Larigakis said.

The American Hellenic Institute is an independent non-profit Greek American public policy center and think tank that works to strengthen relations between the United States and Greece and Cyprus, and within the Greek American community.
